Semax (ACTH(4-7)-Pro-Gly-Pro) is a synthetic heptapeptide analogue of the adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) fragment (4-10), developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The N-terminal Met-Glu-His-Phe tetrapeptide retains the ACTH(4-7) pharmacophore, while the Pro-Gly-Pro C-terminal extension confers resistance to aminopeptidase and carboxypeptidase degradation and substantially extends biological half-life compared to the parent fragment. Notably, Semax does not exhibit the hormonal corticotropic activity of full-length ACTH. Supplied as a lyophilized powder for in vitro research, intended strictly for qualified researchers.
