GHK-Cu (glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine copper(II)) is a naturally occurring tripeptide-copper complex discovered in human plasma by Dr. Loren Pickart in 1973. Originally identified for its ability to stimulate collagen synthesis, GHK-Cu has since been shown to modulate over 4,000 human genes—upregulating tissue repair pathways and downregulating inflammation and fibrosis.

With copper concentrations in human plasma declining with age (from ~1.8 μM at age 20 to ~1.0 μM at age 60), supplementation with GHK-Cu has been investigated as a strategy to restore regenerative capacity.
